The Legacies approach

Legacies is The Launch Pod’s education, anti-racism and social change programme.

We work with schools, young people, community organisations and institutions to explore Black and Brown histories, identity, racism, power, representation and belonging – creating spaces where people can learn, question, speak openly and help shape what comes next.

Our approach is honest, positive and empowering. We don't shy away from difficult histories or uncomfortable conversations, but we also refuse to allow Black and Brown histories to be defined solely by racism, slavery and oppression.

We celebrate achievement, knowledge, creativity, resistance, culture, community and joy alongside an honest exploration of the systems and histories that continue to shape our lives today.

01 / Education

Schools & Young People

We create interactive, age-appropriate programmes for children and young people, including:

Black History Month programmes
Anti-racism education and workshops
Black and Brown histories within Scotland, the UK and across the world
Identity, culture and belonging
Pupil-led changemaker projects
Youth voice, leadership and empowerment
Creative workshops, storytelling and facilitated conversations

Programmes can range from a single workshop to whole-school projects and longer-term programmes and can be adapted for different ages, needs and budgets.

School programmes can be aligned with Scotland's Curriculum for Excellence and integrated across areas including Social Studies, Literacy, Health & Wellbeing and Expressive Arts.

02 / Community

Organisations & Communities

Legacies also works with charities, community organisations and institutions that want to explore racism, representation, inclusion and organisational culture in a meaningful way.

This can include facilitated conversations, workshops, training, community engagement, programme development and bespoke projects.

Pupil & Community-Led Change

We believe people should not simply be taught about change – they should have the opportunity to create it.

Wherever possible, Legacies puts pupil and community voice at the centre, supporting people to explore the issues that matter to them, develop their own ideas and turn learning into meaningful action.
